AMT Receives ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System Certification

The “energy shortage problem” and “greenhouse gas emissions” are two of the most important environmental issues that must currently be faced and resolved. At the same time, they are also key factors in the future development of the global economy. Every enterprise in the global economy has begun to focus on various measures to reduce and manage energy and carbon. Since its inception, AMT’s mission has been the development of green technology that adheres to highly efficient and environmentally friendly production techniques. In addition to providing high quality products and services, AMT is devoted to environmental quality management and reducing energy use to fulfill corporate social responsibility and the obligations of a global citizen.

Since receiving ISO 14001:2004 environmental management system certification in February 2013, we resolved to introduce the ISO 50001:2011 energy management system in 2015. After almost one year of preparation, we examined total plant power consumption, reviewed the status of internal energy use, identified regulatory requirements, established baseline energy needs, and further set an AMT energy performance index and short/mid/long term improvement objectives. In order to enhance energy performance, we utilized the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Action) method to identify opportunities to comprehensively increase energy efficiency to achieve AMT’s energy saving objectives.

From the pre-assessment review, document review, to final official assessment, we demonstrated the achievements of our one year of efforts. In December 2015, we officially passed the audit certification of the ISO 50001:2011 energy management system. To date, only approximately 8,000 companies worldwide have obtained ISO 50001 energy management system certification. Of these, about half are German companies and approximately 200 companies in Taiwan have obtained this certification. We are much honored to be one of these companies to have passed certification.

After this year’s improvement, compared to the full year 2014, we lowered power consumption by approximately 12%. In addition to a tangible reduction in energy costs, this type of achievement also allows the entire staff to grasp the idea of energy conservation. After the end of the attention grabbing Paris Climate Summit, a total of 195 countries including the United States and China signed the “Paris Climate Accords” which stipulated limiting the increase of global temperatures to within 2°C and hopefully to within 1.5°C. This is AMT’s goal and the goal of every AMT employee.

AMT will not fall behind in caring for the environment and energy conservation. In terms of procurement, we have also selected highly efficient, low environmental impact equipment and raw materials and continue to improve management performance to move towards a corporate vision of sustainable development.
