PenMount is focused on the research and development of projected capacitive (PCI or PCAP) touch products and strives to provide customers with the superior product functionality. >From the beginning, PenMount PCI controllers paired standard hardware and firmware to allow customers to quickly and efficiently integrate our products without the need for tedious parameter adjustments while providing high stability and reliability to system products.

At the end of this month, PenMount will update the standard firmware of third generation PenMount PCI controllers PM1710/ PM1711/ PM1410/ PM1310 to V5.0.0. Three major functions will be added to this new standard firmware:

1. Palm Rejection Switch
2. Calibration
3. Enhanced Windows 10 Compatibility

The settings of these more diverse functions can be adjusted with the familiar PenMount PCIUtility V1.0.0. When operating medium and large PCI touch panels, it is easy for the edge of the palm to press on the touch panel’s active area and cause unexpected “false touch” phenomena. Thus, we will provide Palm Rejection selection to the controllers PM1410/ PM1710/ PM1711 that support medium and large panels. This function can be set with the (On/Off) switch to allow customers to lower the probability of false palm touches according to different criteria.

You may be curious, if PCI touch products do not need additional calibration, why would PenMount add a Calibration function? This function primarily allows users to self-define the PCI touch panel active area according to requirements. When executing the Calibration function, users can define a smaller active area to allow larger PCI touch panels to support smaller LCD sizes. At the same time, customers can use this function to develop special user interfaces for diverse applications.

Furthermore, in the Windows 10 system, standard firmware V5.0.0 can choose not to install PenMount drivers while still providing: gesture, multi-point draw, and dragging. This also increases the completeness of PenMount PCI controllers’ USB plug and play support in Windows OS.

The new PenMount PCI controller firmware V5.0.0 will bring features that are more convenient to customers and provide a more user-friendly interface to your applications. Just as our original convictions, we wish to provide easily adjusted PCI firmware features to customers to greatly reduce the heavy workload of adjusting firmware.
