AMT Donates Blood for the Victims of the Hualien Earthquake

02/14/2018 | Bulletin No. : AMTNE18002

Tomorrow is Chinese New Year and, for Chinese everywhere, the Lunar New Year represents family reunions.  No matter where they are, family members come home for New Year’s dinner together.  The Year of the Rooster gives way to the Year of the Dog but, unfortunately, on the tail end of the Rooster, on Tuesday, February 6 at 11:50 PM, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake hit the county of Hualien in Taiwan.  As many as five structures collapsed in Hualien with casualties totaling 17 fatalities and 285 injured.  The entire AMT family sends our thoughts and prayers to the families that have lost loved ones, wish those who were hurt a speedy road to recovery, and hope the displaced can rebuild soon.  We would also like to thank the several hundred tireless firefighters, medical personnel, and military who risked their lives to help others.  Our sincere thanks go out to everyone who wished us well during this uncertain time.

In conjunction with the Dawulun Industrial Park and Industrial Park companies, AMT held a blood drive on February 14 to do our part for the recovery effort with 100+ staff participating.  We would like to thank the Dawulun Industrial Park organizers and many caring individuals from our neighboring companies.  Donating blood is not only a small way to contribute to the current situation but is also an act that can lessen the impact of future disasters and a good way to give back to society as a whole.  We invite you to join us in sending our care to every corner of society that needs a helping hand.  With God’s blessing, we hope the road to healing is short for all those affected.

In addition to 20 years dedicated to designing and manufacturing high quality products for the industrial and medical fields, AMT cares for our customers, employees, suppliers, and especially society’s disadvantaged groups.  On Friday, February 9, AMT President Lillian Chao paid a special visit to the principals of the Pintung County Wutang Elementary School and Pintung County Majia Junior High School.  They expressed their gratitude for our long-term support and remarked that the children have obtained valuable experience and knowledge from the extra-curricular activities and competitions made possible by AMT subsidies.  The Wutang tug-of-war team won the national tug-of-war championship in 2017 and has been invited to compete in Japan this year.  All of this acknowledgement serve as well-deserved encouragement for these indigenous children.  Furthermore, AMT provides long-term assistance to the Pintung Indigenous Information Association for after-school activities.  The association’s children welcomed Ms. Chao warmly with a traditional dance.  We hope our small contribution amounts to more accompaniment and support for them as they grow up.
