Highly User-friendly PenMount PCIUtility Launches Linux Version

09/14/2016 | Bulletin No. : PMY16009

In May of this year, PenMount projected capacitive (PCI or PCAP) touch products released a Windows version of PenMount PCIUtility and, to date, it has earned praise from numerous customers. Our PenMount PCIUtility software allows customers to introduce PenMount PCI touch products conveniently, easily, and quickly. PenMount PCIUtility integrates three major functions including:

  1. PCIMSet – parameter adjustment function
  2. PMUpdate – firmware update function
  3. PCIScan – detection function

Combining these three functions with a graphic interface allows system integrators to set parameters easily, update firmware on the production line, and provide for an incoming quality control tool.

In Windows OS, using PenMount PCIUtility can accomplish most PCI setting requirements. After PenMount PCIUtility has confirmed parameters and completed system calibration, the PenMount PCI controller firmware then assumes the role requested and confirmed by the customer. Even if end user customers wish to use the product under a Linux system, there is no need to use PenMount PCIUtility calibration again. Thereby, alleviating issues faced by end user, distributor, and system integrator customers.

In order to satisfy the needs of Linux platform customers, we will release PenMount PCIUtility for Linux at the end of September. The greatest difference between the Linux and Windows versions of PenMount PCIUtility is that, in Linux, the graphic interface used by various distributions is different. Thus, the Linux version of PenMount PCIUtility provides a text-based user interface which supports X86(X64) and ARM platforms. In terms of other platforms (such as MIPS), customers will need to propose requirements separately.

PenMount understands customer products will be used in different environments and on various platforms. With the ability to use PenMount PCIUtility in the Linux system, customers will be able to deliver products to different countries, on varied platform environments, or disparate Linux versions. Customers can also use PenMount PCIUtility in Linux to conveniently examine and adjust parameters, update firmware, and detect errors.

PenMount PCIUtility can offer mutual support across the Windows and Linux platforms, meaning the firmware setting function in Linux and Windows is the same. PCI touch controller firmware parameters set in Windows OS can be used in the Linux system without needing to reset the same parameters. The opposite is also true, PenMount PCI touch controller firmware parameters set using the Linux version of PenMount PCIUtility can similarly be used in Windows. PenMount PCI touch controller firmware parameters can be used across platforms.
