PenMount PCAP Firmware 5.2 and PCIUtility 1.4

01/30/2018 | Bulletin No. : PMY18001

PenMount wishes a Happy New Year 2018 to all the readers of PenMount Bulletin!  We welcome you to yet another year of exciting PenMount products and innovations.  This year, PenMount plans to introduce even more advanced products and advanced product features.  These refinements cover all aspects of our projected capacitive (PCAP or PCI) touch solutions from sensors to firmware.  PenMount remains dedicated to meeting the needs of our customers and the market and will continue to take your product functionality to the next level!

In December of last year, PenMount released the latest version of PenMount’s standard PCAP controller firmware, version 5.2.  Designed with customer applications and environmental interference in mind, PenMount’s proprietary PCAP firmware for standard controllers enables a suite of flexible and advanced features including superior water handling, noise immunity, and support for a wide range of options to harden the PCAP touch module.  Firmware version 5.2 was followed in January by the release of PenMount PCIUtility version 1.4.  PenMount PCIUtility offers the most comprehensive parameter management suite in an easy to use package.  When a PenMount PCAP controller and firmware is paired with an AMT touch panel, parameter presets are loaded automatically when certain touch variables (such as cover lens thickness) are changed, eliminating the need to manually adjust all relevant parameters and providing unparalleled convenience to our customers.

PenMount PCAP controller firmware version 5.2 adds enhanced driving and system reference (SR).  When the panel is subjected to rapid temperature fluctuations, operational response may lag due to changes in initial reference values.  Customers can build a System Reference (SR) in PenMount PCIUtility to stabilized PCAP touch panel operation within a wider operating temperature and humidity range.  Enhanced Driving allows normal touch operation even when the touch panel encounters severe or low frequency noise interference.  By enabling Enhanced Driving a touch panel with a cover lens of less than 3.0mm will be able to pass IEC 61000-4-6 : (Conducted Susceptibility, CS) testing at greater than 10 Vrms.

Cyclic redundancy check (CRC) can be found as a new option in PenMount PCIUtility V1.4.  PCIUtility will display a CRC code generated from firmware parameters.  From the generated CRC code, customers will also be able to quickly and easily ensure the correct parameter settings for the PCAP products they receive.  In addition, the design of firmware V5.2 and PCIUtility V1.4 can already support cover lens thickness of 4mm and 10-point touch operation.  These features are not available for adjustment on the customer-end and must be enabled by the PenMount team upon customer request.

PenMount listens to customer-side suggestions and needs and continues to provide advanced functions that are convenient to use. Simultaneously, we put ourselves in the customers’ shoes to offer greater consideration on behalf of customers, provide comprehensive touch solutions, and assist customers in successfully introducing PCAP touch products. This has always been PenMount’s direction. If you have any questions or product inquires, you are welcome to contact us for more information.  Happy New Year 2018!
