As the Year of the Monkey makes way for the Year of the Rooster, AMT held its annual year-end banquet on Saturday, January 14 at Le Jardin in Keelung to celebrate staff, vendors, and clients. In addition to reflecting on the trials and challenges of the year past, this was also an opportunity to thank our vendors and partners for their support, and remember those that are less fortunate. This year, we added to the festivities by presenting an award to a valued partner, thanked invited retired colleagues, and AMT President Lillian Chao led a group of performers in sharing meaningful songs for the New Year.

The year-end banquet is an important Chinese tradition held at the end of the Lunar Year. Companies use this opportunity to thank staff and vendors for their hard work and support during the year with a feast, entertainment, and raffle. This year, attendees numbered over 500 including staff, shareholders, vendors, customers, financial partners, and our distributors from Italy, Taiwan, and China. We were also honored by the attendance of valued customer and important partner SCHURTER GmbH.

At the start of festivities, SCHURTER Head of Global Sales Division Input Systems, Thomas Helbling was presented with a Best Partner of 2016 Award. Mr. Helbling extolled a very successful 15 years of partnership between SCHURTER and AMT which saw both become technology leaders and high performing companies. He stressed that these achievements were not only based on commercial factors but also intangibles such as mutual trust, confidence, loyalty, honesty, and a real and deep friendship. This is the secret to long-term partnership and long-term success. Mr. Helbling made a point to emphasize AMT’s commitment to CSR and highlighted our continuing support of disadvantaged groups.

This year’s theme was “when we were 18″ and groups of employees performed delightful and wonderful dances to songs that were popular when they were 18 years old. Members of the Employee Welfare Committee dressed in overalls to symbolize youthful energy. Awards were presented for Excellent New Employee, Employee of the Year, Top 3 Performances, and 5 and 10 years of service. Every year, we honor employees of the year and new employees of the year, with those employed for more than one year eligible for the Employee of the Year award and those employed for less than one year eligible for the Excellent New Employee Award. Direct and indirect staff are awarded separately for a total of 4 prizes. The Employee of the Year awards went to the Manufacturing Division’s Vivian Lee and the Etching and Printing Center’s Li Shuling. Excellent New Employee Awards went to the Logistic Department’s Chen Shupei and the Etching and Printing Center’s Chang Yuwen.

In the middle of the banquet, Ms. Chao treated attendees to a group rendition of “I Have A Dream.” In 2016, AMT donated to 67 organizations, quietly subsidized disadvantaged groups in rural areas, and assisted more than 1,000 low income children. Every touch panel crafted by every member of AMT’s staff is more than a panel, they bear the dreams of these children. Their dreams accompany our panels as they fly across the world. After this song, the group thanked retired employees for laying the foundation for a strong company before moving onto their final song of the night – “Sun Above the Cloud.”

Every year-end banquet is a celebration and acknowledgement of the past year. At the same time, the festivities point to greater opportunities, challenges, and successes after recharging mind and body during the Chinese New Year holiday. This year, AMT will be on vacation from Friday, January 27^th to Wednesday, February 1^st. We will be back at our desks on Thursday, February 2^nd.
